Day 7 - Memory

After Grayson passed, his body was able to stay with us for up to twenty four hours.  Years ago, the thought of that probably would have been weird to me, but being in that position now, I wouldn't have been able to say goodbye without that time.  Holding his little body was such a blessing.

While we were in the hospital and still had his precious body, my mom brought us a set of canvases and paint so that we could stamp our handprints into them.  We painted our hands and his hands and stamped our prints onto the canvas.  After having so many loved ones in and out of the room, this was a time we were able to be together just the three of us and do something we might have done in real life, maybe for FHE.  The memory sticks out to me because we found a reason to smile a little in the midst of the pain.  We smiled as we struggled to get his little baby fingers straight and make them look good on the canvas.  But we weren't very good at it and one of his handprints is pretty smeared and makes it look like his fingers are kind of crooked.  It still makes me smile every time I see it.
